If your UnionPay QR code payment attempt failed outside mainland China, the issue likely stems from using the wrong QR code format. To resolve this:
  1. Open the UnionPay app.
  2. Navigate to Pay & Receive.
  3. Access More Settings.
  4. Select Switch to non-Chinese mainland payment.
This generates a QR code compatible with transactions outside the mainland region.
